Also known as a Europe visa, a Schengen Visa enables eligible individuals to travel freely within the Schengen Area countries. This simply means that if you possess a Schengen Visa, your journey around Europe will not be subject to border checks at all the internal Schengen borders.

Types of Schengen Visas?

There are typically 5 types of short stay Schengen Visas:

  1. (Type A) Airport Transit Visa: This visa allows you to await a connecting flight from a non-Schengen country to another in the international transit area of an airport located in a Schengen Area. You are not allowed to leave the airport for any reason.
  2. (Type B) Transit Visa: This visa allows you to pass through a Schengen country or countries to get from a non-Schengen country to another via a car or coach. You may also need a transit visa for air travel if your trip requires you to leave the airport’s international transit area to enter Schengen country.
  3. (Type C) Short-Stay or Travel Visa: This is the most popular Schengen visa. It is usually issued for the purpose of tourism, those visiting relatives, sporting events, cultural events, Etc. You can visit one or more Schengen countries for up to 90 days in any 6-month period.
  4. (LTV) Limited Territorial Validity: This visa is issued only in special cases, like humanitarian reasons. It can be applied as a transit visa and its duration may vary.
  5. Group Visa: This visa is issued to groups of 5 to 30 people who fulfill certain requirements (such as a trip length of 30 or fewer days). It may be applied as an airport, transit, or short-stay visa.
